Bushra Shaikh: Multiple sources are indicating that Donald Trump…

Multiple sources are indicating that Donald Trump is desperate to end the war and the Iranian delegation can sense it. After a failed leadership change and how Iran survived a powerful, U.S and Israeli military attack, it appears Iran will come out on top in the peace deal.

Bushra Shaikh: What the Labour government...

What the Labour government is doing is unforgivable. Rather than holding Israel to account over the alleged war crimes and killing of civilians in Gaza, Labour is effectively running political cover. Directing enormous political energy towards those who challenge Israel's actions. The result is a political environment where critics of Israel face intense scrutiny, while accountability for the devastation in Gaza is repeatedly sidelined. Shameful.

Bushra Shaikh: The risk of renewed escalation...

The risk of renewed escalation with Iran is materially higher than it was a few weeks ago and Israel's military preparations are a major reason why. Israel is reportedly preparing for another offensive against Iran, while the U.S. is increasing its military presence in the region. If negotiations fail, the period after the U.S. midterms on November 3 could be the most dangerous. The current market/geopolitical assessment puts the odds at: 45% limited escalation 15% major escalation 40% diplomacy But don't mistake these figures for a prediction. In a fast-moving crisis, one military or political development can change the calculation overnight. The risk is rising.

Bushra Shaikh: Saudi Arabia is facing a potentially...

Saudi Arabia is facing a potentially prolonged disruption to oil exports to Europe because both routes it has been relying on to bypass Hormuz are now compromised. The East-West pipeline has been attacked, while the Red Sea/Bab el-Mandab is under Houthi threat. The UK may not depend heavily on Saudi crude directly, but oil is a global market. Disrupt Saudi supply and the price shock travels straight to Britain - petrol, diesel, transport, food, inflation and household bills. This is how a war thousands of miles away reaches your wallet.

Bushra Shaikh: The more I think about Zelenskyy...

The more I think about Zelenskyy praising Netanyahu, the angrier I get. British taxpayers have been asked to shoulder billions for this war, around £25 billion committed to Ukraine, while people here are struggling to make ends meet. And after all that, we are expected to sit quietly while Zelenskyy backs Netanyahu? No. I'm done with this charade. You cannot demand endless solidarity, money and weapons from ordinary people while openly embracing a leader accused of some of the gravest crimes imaginable. That is a red line for me. Not another penny of British taxpayers' money. Britain first.
