I already gave this point consideration and let me tell you why I reject the argument. I have not heard a single Piddington resident (in any of their online posts or video interviews) state that they object to illegal immigrants being housed as ‘asylum seekers’, but that their tiny village doesn’t have the facility to cater for those men. So they want them dumped elsewhere. That is NOT an anti immigration position in the interests of the entire British population, it’s ‘invaders for thee but not for me’. Moreover, their symbolic referendum to quit the UK really demonstrates the selfish character of these people. Of course the vote is a total nonsense, but it shows a total lack of national, community spirit outside of their own back yard. If they DIDN’T vote liberal, then they can easily ‘dispel the notion’ that they did by publicly stating that they oppose ALL parties who support mass immigration into Britain. It’s not difficult, and they could even be lying when they say it (we can’t see who they voted for), but still none of them have done so. Why is that? Because fundamentally they aren’t concerned with such issues unless and until they affect them personally. Then when they are affected, their response is to vote to desert the UK - to hell with the rest of Britain, it’s ‘Piddington First’. That is how a nation dies. Individualism KILLS nations. On a slightly more positive note, it’s worth remembering that revolutions only occur when the Middle Class get involved, so the fact that these issues are starting to affect them directly is actually a positive step towards seeing some real action in this country. There is no voting our way out of this, so let the Middle to Upper Classes raise their heads from their broadsheets and help get the masses organised.
