Ben Habib: We are giving the French...

We are giving the French hundreds of millions of pounds and what are we getting in return? Boats travelling around 70 miles while being tracked by the French Navy, with the British authorities ready and waiting for their arrival. We are being taken for fools.

Ben Habib: Britain has suffered from politicians...

Britain has suffered from politicians who spend enormous amounts of energy working out how to get into office and nowhere near enough working out what they will actually do when they arrive. Power without preparation gets squandered. We have seen enough of that.

I am sick of being told that Britain controlling its own border is somehow beyond the pale. The boats should be intercepted at sea and turned around. End of.

The authorities keep telling us not to speculate. Well, then stop keeping us in the dark and gas lighting us. There has to be a damn good reason to release terrorist suspects while enquiries are continuing - no good reason has been offered. This stinks.

Ben Habib: Burnham might love to rid himself...

Burnham might love to rid himself of 100 troublesome Labour backbenchers. The problem is that if he rolls the dice now, he risks getting rid of himself as well. He has a huge majority and years left in Downing Street. Why would he gamble all of that on an election that could leave him without a majority and without a job?

Ben Habib: I am sick of hearing that we need...

I am sick of hearing that we need another agreement with France before Britain can control its own border. We do not. I do not care whether the French cooperate. Britain’s border is Britain’s responsibility. Our government needs to develop a backbone, take control and do the job it is obligated to do - enforce our borders.

Ben Habib: I don’t buy the idea of an early election...

I don’t buy the idea of an early election. Labour has a huge Commons majority. Andy Burnham would be gambling that away and potentially forcing his own party into a hung Parliament. My view is that his problem is much closer to home: his own MPs.

Ben Habib: We have become a nation...

We have become a nation of dependency and a nation of victimhood. Successive governments created this through their approach to the welfare state. If a nation refuses to work then that nation goes bust and it does so pretty quickly. We have gone from the nanny state to the wet nurse.

Ben Habib: So dumbed down has our politics...

So dumbed down has our politics become that we now have career politicians prepared to prostitute their own beliefs in pursuit of a parliamentary salary. Whether it comes from trade unions or crypto billionaires, once enormous sums of money enter party politics, the obvious question is: what influence does that money buy?

Ben Habib: This is the rot in British politics...

This is the rot in British politics. Former Cabinet Secretary Chris Wormald, who was sacked after just 14 months, walked away with an £860,000 payoff. Starmer forced that through against all "value for money warnings". Now he is a Lord receiving £390 a day. We funded his failure and now we are funding his future.

Ben Habib: Piddington will be overrun...

Piddington will be overrun by illegal migrants. It will be the ruination of a quintessential English village. Their referendum was a cry for help. They have nowhere to go. Of course, the illegal migrants do. They have homes they left to enter England illegally. They should not be in Piddington. They are not welcome. They should go home.

Britain is sitting on its own energy. Labour would rather tax it out of existence, import energy from abroad and call that progress. 111 potential projects. £50bn of investment. A 78% headline tax rate. Use British energy. Employ British workers. Put Britain first.

Funny how Westminster tolerated big money in politics for decades while Labour and the Conservatives were collecting it. Now a challenger has the resources to compete and suddenly the establishment wants to change the rules. What an extraordinary coincidence.

Northern Ireland joining GB created the United Kingdom. Foreign politicians suggesting a breakup of our kingdom stand against us. No matter whether they’re Irish, European or American. What our politicians should be doing is ditching the Irish Sea border.

Ben Habib: It was deeply upsetting...

It was deeply upsetting to watch the CH4 revelations about @reformparty_uk Senior figures in Reform appearing to conspire to step round electoral law to allow foreign funding of “off book” polls is frankly disgusting. And it appears @Nigel_Farage was fully in the picture. This cannot be characterised as entrapment, which is the line being taken by Farage. Entrapment is a defence against law enforcement agents inducing a breaking of the law. The ideas, it would appear, all came from Reform. I fought a campaign in 2024 for the democratisation of the party and to introduce checks and balances to prevent precisely this sort of thing happening. I failed in that campaign. It is tragic seeing Reform collapse in a swamp of sleaze.

Ben Habib: Everyone is panicking about @RestoreBritain_…

Everyone is panicking about @RestoreBritain_ splitting @reformparty_uk vote and allowing Burnham to win. The panic is misplaced. The worst political outcome would be Restore stepping aside to allow Reform a victory. With its current direction of travel, Reform offers the country no redemption. By stepping aside, Restore would concrete in Reform’s hopelessness. Restore must fight this election and do the best it can. If it were to gain 7% of the vote, as predicted, that would send an earth quake through Reform. Reform might then correct its ways. A Burnham victory makes not a blind bit of difference to the country. Labour has a 156 seat majority. Whether Burnham or some other idiot from Labour becomes PM makes no difference. And for those worried about an early general election - turkeys do not vote for Christmas. It is not happening. Restore and Rebecca Shepherd must fight this by election tooth and nail. I know @_AdvanceUK supporters are already in Makerfield campaigning on their behalf. I will help where I can.
