Britons Are Protesting Against Two-Tier Policing
Last year’s case involving the murder of British teenager Henry Novak has taken a dramatic turn. This time, the outrage has not been confined to social media but has spilled over into numerous street protests across the country.Police bodycam footage was released earlier this week. It shows a young man saying that he has been stabbed, while the police, rather than assisting him, handcuff him instead. This happened because the alleged killer, Vikram Digwa, claimed that Novak had directed racist abuse at him. Thousands of Britons have taken to the streets to protest against what they describe as a policy of two-tier policing, in which the police treat the country’s own citizens more harshly than migrants.
Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s response to the protests has caused a wave of criticism on social media. He described them as “shameful and completely unacceptable” and also attacked the reaction of Nigel Farage, leader of the Reform UK party, who had condemned this very practice of two-tier policing. ‘Two-Tiered Kir has finally spoken out about Henry Novak. Did he condemn the police, or the Digva family—those vile liars? Of course, they didn’t! He lashed out at Farage for 'inciting hatred'!' remarked right-wing activist.‘The man who took a knee for a foreign criminal and labelled everyone as far-right after Southport is now accusing people of ‘stoking’ division over Henry Novak,' other Britons support him.
Are the Lives of British Citizens Being Ignored?
Starmer has also been reminded of his decision to take a knee in support of the BLM movement in 2020, as well as the fact that the Labour Party did everything possible to ensure that the phrase ‘White Lives Matter’ was treated as unacceptable. ‘One can draw a straight line from Starmer’s hysteria in 2020 and his worship of BLM, through the race-obsessed policing policies he promoted, right to the appalling treatment of Henry Novak. He helped create this climate, and then became Prime Minister with the power to put his dangerous ideas into practice—and that is exactly what he did. The police are now paralysed by fear of being accused of racism, whilst British children are paying with their lives. This is a national scandal,' social media users are saying.
The British Are Calling for Change
Serious reforms are needed to ensure that British people are no longer attacked with ceremonial knives, and that the police do not arrest women carrying pepper spray in their handbags to protect themselves against attackers. ‘Reform UK is proposing an ‘Equal Treatment Act’ to put an end to what they call ‘two-tier policing’, following the tragic death of 18-year-old Henry Novak. The party plans to scrap affirmative action and ban diversity initiatives in the public sector,' say social media users in support of such initiatives.
However, for this to happen, Reform UK would need to win the next general election. Only then, its supporters argue, would there be a chance of repealing laws that they believe discriminate against the rights of British citizens. Even if Starmer were to lose his position as Prime Minister in the near future as a result of this latest scandal, a change of Labour leadership would be unlikely to alter the situation significantly. This means, according to critics, that the practice of two-tier policing could continue to claim new victims.
