A Somali-Born Driver Struck Five Pedestrians in London

The incident took place on Ealing Broadway, where a car mounted the pavement and struck five pedestrians before the driver fled the scene. He was later arrested by police. Social media users have focused on the authorities’ response, arguing that they portrayed the incident involving a Muslim driver as nothing more than a routine road traffic collision. The driver has been identified as 34-year-old Timir Ahmed Mohamed. Born in Somalia, he now holds British citizenship. Following his arrest, investigators stated that they were treating the incident as a road traffic incident rather than an act of terrorism.

Terrorism or Not?

‘The authorities claim that “while investigators are keeping an open mind as to any potential motive, the incident is not being treated as terrorism I think we all know how ‘open-minded’ the European authorities are when it comes to Islamic terrorism,’ noted Islam expert Robert Spencer.

Other users have also questioned why the incident is not being treated as terrorism, pointing out that media reports describe the suspect as a British man born in Somalia, despite his very different cultural background.

‘This is another vehicle-ramming attack on British streets by someone from a high-risk background that successive governments have failed to control. The same pattern appears in grooming gangs, knife crime and terror incidents. Mass low-skilled migration from regions with incompatible cultures and elevated rates of certain crimes has turned parts of our cities into danger zones,’ writes the Right over Left account. 

The issue of Muslim immigration remains one of the most fiercely debated topics in Britain. Only recently, the Rape Gang Inquiry report alleged that at least 250,000 girls had been raped by members of so-called grooming gangs, many of whom were Pakistani Muslims. At the same time, the government has repeatedly faced criticism over what opponents describe as "two-tier policing": when Muslims are attacked, politicians and the media respond immediately, whereas attacks carried out by migrants against local residents are, they argue, described in much softer terms.

The Authorities’ Response

The London vehicle-ramming incident has proved no exception. Only the previous day, in Edinburgh, a drunken Scotsman attacked people near a mosque with an axe, injuring five people, including several Muslims. Former Prime Minister Keir Starmer responded immediately, stating that the suspect had been "apparently motivated by anti-Muslim hatred".

‘Fast forward a week. Five pedestrians are run over by Timir Ahmed Mohamed, who has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. Where is the Prime Minister now? What was the motivation behind this alleged attempted murder of 5 people? It's these obvious double standards in public messaging that have fuelled division over the last two years,’ notes Reform UK MP Ben Graham.

What can happen when the public believe the authorities' response is inadequate has already been demonstrated in Belfast. After a 30-year-old migrant allegedly attempted to stab a local man to death, with passers-by forced to intervene to save him, the city was engulfed by widespread riots.

Hundreds of Thousands of Girls Were Victims of Grooming Gangs

At least 250,000 cases of abuse involving girls across 149 areas of the UK are alleged to have taken place, according to the findings of an independent inquiry published in June in a report entitled Rape Gang Inquiry. The report’s conclusions, together with the response of the mainstream media, have generated widespread discussion on social media.
