Operation Scatter — A Threat to the Country

The head of government commented on another protest against plans to disperse migrants across the country. The car crash interview sparked a wave of negative public reaction, while the Prime Minister was accused of creating real threats to citizens.

Observers write that Andy Burnham "completely fell apart" in an interview with Sky News, where he commented on the results of a mock referendum in Piddlington. 350 residents of the small Oxfordshire village voted to leave the United Kingdom after plans were announced to accommodate more than 1,000 asylum seekers at a nearby military base. "I understand the strength of feeling, and that's something that is across the country, but the only thing to do is to get the number of crossings down'', - the Prime Minister practically mumbled. Meanwhile, more than 5,000 illegal migrants have arrived in the country across the English Channel since he took office.

Citizens are particularly outraged by the fact that, under Burnham’s plan, all arriving migrants are to be dispersed across the country.

''His grand solution to local residents feeling unsafe on their own streets is not to stop the boats or deport illegal entrants, but to ensure that every single community in the country is forced to suffer the exact same risk! The only fair policy is not scattering thousands of unvetted men into quiet British villages and towns. The only fair policy for British taxpayers is detaining them and removing them from our country entirely'', - writes Nottingham resident David Shaw.

The Illusion of Fairness

Labour’s migration policy is facing fierce criticism from both the public and political opponents. Shadow Home Secretary Chris Philp said that Burnham intends to deliver another devastating blow to the middle class: “Now, Burnham plans to deliberately flood more neighbourhoods with thousands of illegal immigrants who he has let into this country, and many of whom will commit serious crimes including rape and murder.”

''There is no way that Burnham can be this thick! We don't want ILLEGALS 'spread fairly'. We want them gone, deported. He is deliberately buying time while refusing to tackle the problem. When he is replaced, rinse and repeat'', - writes user Rachel indignantly.

While Burnham talks about fairness, in reality there is no fairness at all. According to The Sun, Glasgow, Hyndburn and Blackburn take in the largest numbers of migrants. In 17 affluent areas, including Derbyshire Dales, the Isle of Wight and the Cotswolds, there is not a single asylum seeker.

A Threat to the Entire Country

Many say that Burnham’s policy will lead to a situation in which there are simply no safe places left in the country.

''Burnham. He says spreading them through every town is “fair.” That’s not fairness. That’s admitting the risk is real… then making sure your kids get a share of it. Fair would be stopping the boats. Fair would be sending them back. Sharing the problem is not a policy. It’s a confession he can’t control the border'', - writes the author of the patriotic account Harry Lines.

In reality, the public does not want to see migrants in either poor or wealthy areas. People believe that they simply should not be on British streets.
