Police Protect Illegal Migrants, Not Their Own Citizens

Gosport in Hampshire was completely cordoned off by police so that illegal migrants could disembark without disruption. Meanwhile, local residents were warned that they could be arrested for even the slightest violation, sparking widespread public outrage.

A total of 149 migrants picked up in the English Channel were brought to Gosport aboard two lifeboats. Around 350 protesters gathered near the town's fort to express their anger at illegal migrants being allowed to enter the country unhindered. Police took unprecedented security measures. To protect the migrants themselves.

Illegal Migrants Under Police Protection

''In Gosport this week local concerned Brits peacefully protesting illegal invaders to their country were met with shield, helmet and body armour riot police, a town wide dispersal order for 4 days, elderly residents (who were not even to do with the protests) blocked from getting to their own homes and a face covering ban!'' - writes outraged activist Tommy Robinson.

Police warned local residents that they could be arrested if they failed to comply with their orders. In practice, this meant that anyone simply watching the protest could be detained. In the end, 12 people were arrested during the demonstration.

''Think about the sheer perversity of that scene unfolding right on the doorstep of Portsmouth, the historic home of the Royal Navy. The British state has completely inverted its core purpose, deploying emergency police powers to suppress local citizens while rolling out VIP escorts for people who bypassed border controls. When did the primary duty of British policing become locking down law abiding taxpayers just to facilitate an open border?'', - remarks blogger David Shaw.

''It's the hallmark of a Government that has completely lost its grip. What the Government should have done is put the migrants on a Border Force vessel and taken them to Dover, otherwise they were sending out a message to people smugglers that this is now a viable new route'', - Conservative MP for Gosport Caroline Dineag told the Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, the government is generously funding such a warm welcome for migrants. According to local police, the operation cost taxpayers £200,000, excluding the cost of cleaning up after the unrest and accommodating the illegal migrants themselves.

What particularly outraged the public was that just two days later, a pro-Palestinian march took place in London. And the police did nothing to stop it.

''In London, a Hate march still went ahead. Police asked them to move it off 7 October. They refused. Some covered their faces after being told not to. Chants for intifada outside a Jewish community office. Five arrests there. The hate march still got its route.<…>Same country. Same week. One crowd picks the anniversary of a massacre and gets managed through the streets. The other gets the order, the ban and the van. Call it what it is. Two-tier policing'', - writes the outraged author of the Benonwine account.

Many users write about the threats posed by illegal migrants, complain that taxpayers are being forced to pay for them and call for the government to resign. Yet Burnham's government has not responded to the events in Gosport at all. It simply does not care.
