Migrants Are Making Their Way into Power

The Labour Party candidate has won a parliamentary seat in the London constituency of Holborn and St Pancras, replacing former Prime Minister Keir Starmer. The new MP — a hijab-wearing Muslim woman originally from Somalia — has sparked a strong reaction on social media.

Sagal Abdi-Wali defeated Green Party leader Zack Polanski in the by-election. This happened amid a record-low turnout of 38%. While Labour received 11,572 votes in Holborn and St Pancras at the previous election, Abdi-Wali was supported by just 3,364 voters this time.

London Has Gone Mad

Many bloggers are asking what could have happened to Londoners for them to make such a choice and continue supporting a party that has turned the capital's streets into a frightening and dangerous place.

''Instead of holding the establishment accountable for soaring knife crime and record migration, you handed a free pass to the very people responsible for your own misery. Your housing market is completely broken and your local services are buckling, yet you walked right into the polling station and begged for more managed decline. <…> You actively voted for this socialist disaster, so you can sit back and enjoy living with the consequences'', - writes David Shaw, an outspoken critic of Labour.

Meanwhile, another user points out that Muslims make up around 22% of the population of Holborn and St Pancras and claims that they were the ones who elected Abdi-Wali.

Reform UK's representative Zia Yusuf previously stated: "The frontrunner being foisted on the people of Holborn by Labour to replace the former prime minister Keir Starmer in our parliament was born in Somalia. Do you understand what's happening?" Labour immediately accused Yusuf of racism.

Migrants Have Gained a Lobby in Parliament

Most users rejected the accusations of racial discrimination and began asking legitimate questions: whose interests will Sagal Abdi-Wali represent?

British right-wing activist Tommy Robinson published a video of the candidate meeting voters: ''She talks about “when we come together as a community” (as she talks in Somalian), but look at her audience and look who she’s pledging to? Not a Brit, or even a white person in fact, in sight..no racism here or Britophobia though. She pledges to Somalia. Not Britain. Not England. Not London. Not even Holborn & St Pancras. Just the community she cares about and where she came from. Their not here for us ''.
Aaron J Brand, deputy leader of the English Democrats, shares the same view: ''Over half of all Somalians in England are unemployed. 72% of them live in social housing. Majority receive benefits, and in the prison population they are over represented by 10x the average. Cousin marriage is also the norm. They should not be here. Sagal Abdi-Wali, a Somalian migrant has just been elected in Keir Starmer’s old constituency of Holborn and St Pancras she will use her position to extract more resources for her people''.

Investigative journalist Paul Holden writes that there are serious concerns about Sagal Abdi-Wali herself. These concern both questionable donations to her election campaign and her appalling performance as head of Camden's housing department.

Most commentators agree that there could hardly be a worse replacement for Keir Starmer in Parliament. Whatever Labour says about tackling illegal migrants, the party itself is bringing migrants into power.
