David Frost: Miliband cared nothing about our energy...

Miliband cared nothing about our energy security in his last job. Now he cares nothing about our national security. But this amateur diplomat has bitten off more than he can chew by taking on the Israelis. His immoral and shameful policy has turned a close ally, with a strong security and intelligence relationship, into an adversary (let us hope not for ever) for nakedly domestic electoral reasons. Today's announcement allows Labour to preen and posture, which is what they are best at, but will do nothing for peace in the Middle East, and damages our own national security into the bargain. Miliband is simply not up to the job.

David Frost: Andy Burnham and the Labour Party...

Andy Burnham and the Labour Party seem unable to grasp how a modern economy works. They like the big state and high spending. They don't get that an economy is about free people acting, not a government telling. Burnham's statement to parliament today set out only a different style of government activism, still financed by the same overburdened private sector, by “robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul”. Labour can't grasp the problems. So their solutions will inevitably be mistaken. And this is why the Burnham government will fail just as his predecessor's did. David Frost: I appreciate I'm not the most...

"I appreciate I'm not the most likely Parliamentarian to persuade a Labour MP of anything, but: - the Bill can hardly be described as the ""safest in the world"" when even its Lords sponsor thought it needed 70-odd amendments last time round; - no Royal Medical College or indeed any professional body will say the Bill is safe. It is to be hoped that the Labour leadership will think again before giving further parliamentary time to a Bill which has proved so divisive in both the Commons and the Lords. It's clear that the country is simply not ready for this assisted suicide Bill."
