Burnham inherited a Labour Party who gained 411 parliamentary seats out of a total of 650 or 63% of MPs with only 33.7% of the votes . However only a total of about 29 million people actually voted with 19 million who didn’t vote and over 8m who are not even registered to vote. So less than 1 in 5 adults voted Labour into power.
