Mark Urban
Mark Urban is a British journalist, military historian, and broadcaster, born on 26 January 1961 in London, United Kingdom. He is best known for his long career at the BBC, where he served as Diplomatic Editor and occasional presenter of Newsnight on BBC Two until May 2024, reporting on major international conflicts and diplomatic affairs around the world. He began his journalism career with the BBC in 1983 and also worked as defence correspondent for The Independent before returning to the BBC. Mark Urban is also a published author of several books on military history and international security, including Big Boys’ Rules, Task Force Black, and The Skripal Files. He currently writes and comments on foreign affairs for The Sunday Times and continues to contribute to public discussions on defence and diplomacy.
